Lentils Transition to New CropVANCOUVER- Jul 28/06 - SNS -- North American lentil are in the midst of the transition from current to new crop pricing. Initial harvest activity is expected in Saskatchewan within two weeks and the first new crop supplies have appeared in the United States. In fact, growers in Washington State have already received loan deficiency payments on 140,000 pounds of 2006 crop lentils. Even though new crop lentils should generally be available in both Canada and the United States before the end of August, spot markets are have not narrowed to a quality-based discount.
