Pulse Seeding Slows in IndiaNEW DELHI - Jul 24/06 - SNS -- The gap between the amount of summer monsoon or kharif season pulses sown narrowed considerably during the past week as seeding activity for this commodity group slowed. India's agriculture department now estimates 5.9 million hectares of pulses have been sown as of July 21, up from 5.7 million at this time last year. This year's monsoon remains weak. In the period spanning July 1 through 19, rainfall levels are considered 14% below normal across the country. For the week ending July 19, rainfall levels were 32% below normal.
