Parsley Grade Changes MootedWASHINGTON - Jul 24/06 - SNS -- The USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is proposing changes to the U.S. Standards for Grades of Parsley. The division is seeking comments on the possible modification of the grade standards to allow that percentages for tolerances and defects be determined by count and not weight. Comments are also requested on other revisions that may be necessary to update the standards to more closely reflect current cultural and marketing practices. Current standards can be viewed at http://www.ams.usda.gov/standards/vegfm.htm. The request for comments will appear in the July 24, 2006, Federal Register. Comments must be received by Sept. 22, 2006, and should be sent to Cheri L. Emery, AMS Fruit & Vegetable Programs, Room 1661-S, USDA Stop 0240, 1400 Independence Avenue SW, Washington, D.C. 20250-0240.
