Catfish Feed Deliveries Slip in June
WASHINGTON - Jul 21/06 - SNS -- Total catfish feed delivered in the United States during June 2006 was 118,591 tons, down 1% from June 2005 but 42% above the previous month, according to the USDA.
Feed delivered for foodsize fish totaled 112,326 tons, and feed for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 6,265 tons in June 2006.
June feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 54,484 tons, down 3% from last year and accounted for 49% of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to U.S. farmers.
The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in June were: Alabama with 29,580 tons, Arkansas with 18,654 tons, and Louisiana with 3,600 tons.
