Australian Livestock Auction Action Slump. SYDNEY - Jul 21/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd fell during the past week on a modest decline in sheep sales and a sharp drop in cattle. . Throughput for the week totalled 20,243 sheep and lambs, down from 21,759 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 841, compared to 2,287 last week. . "Sheep and lamb throughput . . . is not too bad given the time of year and recent rain," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "And the numbers were principally from those wily old Queenslanders who knew when to hold a few back. They were well rewarded. . "Cattle numbers dipped considerably and may stay that way in the short term. The August calendar looks busy, so that's good news." Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
