Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Sep 2/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY A Fire Weather warning has been issued for Tuesday for the Maranoa and Warrego and Western Darling Downs districts. STATE FORECAST for Tuesday Isolated showers along the far north tropical coast with moderate to fresh SE winds. Cloud developing over the southwest of the state with some light rain and local thunder. Hot, fresh and gusty N'ly winds in the south-west extending eastwards and producing very high to near extreme fire danger over the southern interior. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Conditions will remain fine across most of the state through most of the week. An area of high pressure will remain anchored over the eastern Tasman Sea for most of the week and extend a ridge onto the north-east tropical coast. Consequently, central districts of the state will remain fine while over the far northern tropics a few showers will continue to be directed onto the coast in the persistent onshore SE trade flow. The hot, fresh and gusty northerly winds in the west of the state will weaken a little Tuesday as they move eastwards across the southern interior increasing fire dangers and creating areas of raised dust. Cloudy conditions are expected over most southern districts during Tuesday and Wednesday with some light rain and local thunder possible. Fine conditions are then expected across the south on Thursday before a new surface trough could bring some shower activity as it moves across southern Queensland on Friday. It is expected to be very warm to hot over most of the interior through much of the week. --- STAT News Service The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
