Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Sep 1/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY A strong wind warning is current for coastal waters from Cape Moreton to Coolangatta. STATE FORECAST for Monday Isolated showers along the far north tropical coast where moderate to fresh SE winds. Fine elsewhere. Generally light to moderate SW/SE winds over the south-east. Becoming hot over the south-west with freshening N'ly winds and raised dust. Very high fire over the south-west. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Conditions will remain fine across most of the state well into the week. An area of high pressure will remain anchored over the eastern Tasman Sea for most of the week and extend a ridge onto the north-east tropical coast. Consequently, central districts of the state will remain fine well into the week whilst over the far northern tropics a few showers will continue to be directed onto the coast in the persistent onshore SE trade flow. Winds over the west of the state will shift hot N'ly today ahead of the next surface trough thereby increasing fire dangers and creating areas of raised dust. The trough will weaken as it moves across southern districts during Tuesday and Wednesday. However cloudy conditions area expected over most southern districts during Tuesday and Wednesday with isolated showers or thunderstorms possible. It is expected to be very warm to hot over most of the interior through most of the coming week. --- STAT News Service The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
