Egg Use Rises in MayWASHINGTON - Jul 7/06 - SNS -- The volume of eggs used by food manufacturers rose in May, reaching 176 million dozen during May 2006, up 2% from May a year ago, and 8% above the 162 million broken last month, according to the USDA. During calendar year 2006 through May, shell eggs broken totaled 833 million dozen, down slightly from the comparable period in 2005.
