Australian Livestock Auction Action FallsSYDNEY - Jul 7/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd sank during the past week on record low sheep and lamb offerings. Throughput for the week totalled 11,870 sheep and lambs, down from 14,821 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 1,655, compared to 2,057 last week. "Numbers of sheep and lambs fell to a record low this week. Most noticeable about the shortage is that just on half of that number came from Tasmania," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Cattle numbers weren't that plentiful this week either. Queenslanders must all be busy fencing, shearing or other wintertime jobs, as only two lots were catalogued this week."
