USDA Amends Food Aid TenderKANSAS CITY - Jul 5/06 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here changed PL-480 food aid tender invitation 076 by switching the requirement for whole yellow peas to green and/or yellow peas. This affects a request for 7,270 metric tons (MT) of yellow peas and acknowledges the tighter supply situation facing that class of peas in the United States. Whenever tenders include an optional commodity request, the USDA is obliged to buy whichever is cheaper. With this change, there is a chance more green than yellow peas will be bought on the tender.
