Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 1/06 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary
Strong wind warnings are current for all Victorian coastal waters. including
Port Phillip and Western Port.
A severe weather warning is current for Alpine areas for damaging winds.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments
A cold front will move through Victoria Saturday night and Sunday morning. A
high pressure system will then move from the Bight to pass just south of
Victoria late on Monday to the south Tasman Sea on Tuesday. Another cold front
will approach Victoria on Wednesday and is likely to reach the west of the State
at night.
Victoria
Tonight and Sunday:    Rain areas extending throughout overnight and in the
morning then gradually clearing from the west tomorrow. Scattered showers
persisting in southern and mountain districts. Snow above 1700 metres lowering
to 1400 metres overnight. Cool to cold and mostly cloudy with fresh to strong
northwesterly winds, reaching gale force in the alps and shifting southerly from
the west and moderating in the morning.
UV Index:     1-2  [low]
Monday:       Isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast, contracting
to the east. Fine in the north. Early inland frost and fog patches then a cool
to cold day.
Tuesday:      Morning frost and fog patches then generally fine and cool.
Isolated showers in the far southwest later.
Wednesday:    Isolated showers in the far southwest extending further east
