World Cup Distracts Bean TradeVANCOUVER - Jun 30/06 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were little changed on the week, with traders in many of the world's consuming and exporting regions distracted by the soccer's World Cup tournament. With Argentina's elimination from the tournament at the hands of Germany on Friday, processors and exporters in that country will refocus on trying to accumulate beans to meet June-July shipping commitments. By week's end, Argentina's white bean crop was thought to be 40% harvested with 70% of all beans in swath.
