Net Decline in Pulse StocksWASHINGTON - Jun 30/06 - SNS -- There was a net decrease in the volume of pulses on hand in the United States as of June 1, according to the latest USDA stocks in all positions estimates. Significant gains in lentil stocks over last year offset by a massive drop in field pea stocks. At the same time stocks in all positions of chickpeas and Austrian winter peas were up over June 1 of last year. The USDA pegged June 1 stocks dry edible peas at 2.14 million cwt (100 pound units), down 33% from last year; compared to 1.81 million cwt of lentils, up 37%; and 206,000 cwt of Austrian winter peas, up 18%.
