Mixed Finish For Feed Peas

VANCOUVER - Jun 23/06 - SNS -- European feed pea markets ended the week mixed in U.S. dollar terms, with grower markets in France gaining strength while end user markets in Belgium and Holland eased.

Improved demand from India on account of the country's decision to eliminate its 10% import duty and ban pulse exports may be influencing markets in France. Exporters there are always keen to move peas to India it is rises to a premium to European compound fed markets.

Major livestock feed ingredient markets ended the week on a generally softer note. Crops conditions in the United States are good, which is pressuring prices for corn and soybean meal. Markets expect increase in corn seedings in the June 30 seeded area report from the USDA at the expense of soybeans. The question is the degree to which land shifts.

Current hot and dry conditions in the United States are not having the impact they once had. As last year proved, the new bio-engineered crops are significantly hardier than their forebears.
