Australian Livestock Auction Action SinkSYDNEY - Jun 2/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd fell during the past week as modest gains in cattle were offset by steep declines in sheep and lamb offerings. Throughput for the week totalled 23,881 sheep and lambs, down from 37,520 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 1,963, compared to 1,623 last week. "Cattle numbers increased this week . . . and the desire to buy is strong," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Irrespective of drought conditions, people must be feeling that rain will soon come and it's amazing just what interest there is in breeding cattle."
