Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 2/06 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Strong Wind Warning for Sydney Closed Waters and for NSW Coastal
Waters north of Smoky Cape. Gale Warning for NSW Coastal Waters south
of Smoky Cape.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A complex slow-moving over southwestern Tasman Sea with smaller
secondary low off New South Wales south coast is directing strong
south to southwest winds on the southern half of the coast and
bringing rain and showers.  An upper trough over the central west is
generating isolated showers. The upper trough and isolated showers
will contract to the northeast overnight.
The low is expected to move towards New Zealand on Saturday and
Sunday as a high south of the Bight extends a ridge across the state.
The high should remain semi-stationary on Monday and Tuesday
maintaining coastal showers within southerly airstream.
Forecast for Friday evening
Fine on the north coast and adjacent ranges and in the southwest.
Showers or rain periods in the southeast falling as sleet/snow over
the higher grounds of southern and central tablelands. Snow on the
Alps. Isolated showers in the remainder. Westerly winds in the
northeast and south to southwest winds in the remainder, fresh to
strong near the coast.
Forecast for Saturday
Scattered showers on the south and central coast. Isolated showers on
the northern ranges and adjacent western slopes. Fine elsewhere.
Early frost patches on the slopes and ranges.  Cool to mild day.
South to southwest, fresh to strong near the coast.
Forecast for Sunday
Scattered coastal showers. Mostly fine elsewhere. Early frosts on the
slopes and ranges.  Cool to mild day. South to southeast winds, fresh
to strong near the coast.
Forecast for Monday
Scattered coastal showers. Fine elsewhere. Cool to mild day.
Southwest to southeast winds, fresh near the coast.
Forecast for Tuesday
Scattered coastal showers. Fine elsewhere. Cool to mild day.
Southwest to southeast winds, fresh near the coast.
