Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 1/06 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

STATE FORECAST
for Friday
Isolated showers about the east tropical coast and adjacent inland north of
about Mackay. Areas of drizzle developing about the western slopes of the
Granite Belt overnight. Dry over the remainder of the state with widespread
early morning frost over the SE and southern interior. Generally light to
moderate SW/SE winds.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
On Saturday a deep low in the Tasman Sea combines with a 1032 hPa high south of
the Great Australian Bight will direct a cold blast over the SE with chilly
winds. Cloudy over the Southern Downs with a little drizzle will create rather
"bleak" conditions. The rest of the state will be dry and cool. Isolated showers
in the NE tropics. Early morning frost confined to the Darling Downs as windy
overnight conditions will keep minimum temperatures up. By Sunday the airflow
over the SE would have turned S'ly and eased with a greater area of frost
expanding into the Warrego/Maranoa, southern Central Highlands, southern
Capricornia and the SE coast. Fine conditions over the SE with limited cloud.
Isolated showers still occurring in the NE tropics. By Monday winds turning S/SE
along the east coast will induce showers down to about Fraser Island. Still a
large early morning frost area over the SE corner of the state. By Tuesday
coastal showers building as moisture levels continue to rise. Minimum
temperatures over the interior rising also as moisture penetrates inland with a
reduced frost area to the Darling Downs. By Wednesday almost ESE winds along the
