Ongoing Demand Support ChickpeasVANCOUVER - May 26/06 - SNS -- International chickpea markets remain firm against ongoing demand and a tight supply situation until Turkish and Syrian crops are harvested in July. North American markets remain firm against tight supplies, though new crop trading is being reported in California and the U.S. Pacific Northwest at solid discounts to spot. Saskatchewan's Walker Seeds Ltd. reports there is still "demand for small chick peas but no stocks are left in Canada. . . . We are seeing demand from the Subcontinent for whole desi chick peas but there are no stocks in Canada to support the demand.
