Red Meat Inventory Up In U.S.WASHINGTON - May 19/06 - SNS -- Total red meat supplies in freezers rose 17 million pounds in April to 963.6 million pounds, up 6% from the previous year, notes the USDA in its latest report on agricultural products in cold storage. Frozen pork supplies rose 3% during the month to 516 million pounds, down 8% from the previous year. Stocks of pork bellies were down 1% from last month at 67.2 million pounds and down 25% from last year. Supplies of beef rose from year earlier levels, rising 30% to 429 million pounds, up around 6 million pounds from the previous month.
