Noble First Quarter Profits Up

NEW YORK - May 11/06 - SNS -- Noble Group Limited reported a net profit of U.S. $35.112 million on gross revenue of $2,791.208 million for the three months ending March 31, up from a net of $30.036 million on revenues of $2,630.868 million during the previous quarter.

Noble reports that its agriculture segment reported an increase in turnover to US$831.9 million in the first quarter 2006 compared to US$684.0 million in fourth quarter 2005 and US$617.5 million in first quarter 2005.

"Several of our business divisions reported substantial revenue growth reflecting a continuation of the expansion of our origination and distribution operations. Our grains division continued its strong tonnage growth benefiting from the expansion of our supply chain origination activities and further market penetration, particularly in the PRC, Europe and India," the company said.
