Thai Rice Markets MixedBANGKOK - May 9/06 - SNS -- Harvest selling pressure and continued strength in the Thai baht combined to keep that country's rice markets mixed the last week, notes the U.S. agricultural attache in a report on the country's rice sector. "Exporters are facing difficulties in quotations due to current exchange rate fluctuation (around 37.2 - 37.7 baht/U.S$)," the agricultural attache said. "Also, exporters expected that Thai rice exports will likely shrink to 7.2 million MT in 2006, as compared to the government target of 7.5 million MT, if the Thai baht remains strong at 37-38 baht/U.S.$ over the next two months."
