Industry Expects Smaller Lentil DropVANCOUVER - May 5/06 - SNS -- There is a general belief in Canada that the Statistics Canada seeding intentions estimates will be proven wrong, despite slow planting seed sales to growers this year. Most processors are looking for total decreases in their areas of up to 20%, but with growers talking in terms of a 40% increase in red lentils. Such thoughts make it look more like Canada will seed at least 1.7 million acres of lentils this spring, down from last year's record 2.194 million acre crop.
