Chickpeas Ease on SellingVANCOUVER - May 5/06 - SNS -- Chickpea markets were somewhat easier during the past week in the face on ongoing export activity by Mexico and the proximity of new crop merchandise from parts of the United States and Turkey. While Canadian shippers do not yet have significant quantities of chickpeas to sell, they are following markets down in an effort to keep price expectations for that origin in line with the market reality. There is some evidence Mexican processors are winding up their focus on large caliber beans and preparing to market the smaller sizes of kabuli chickpeas harvested this year.
