Tightening Stocks Support Peas
VANCOUVER - May 5/06 - SNS -- Canadian field pea markets continued their upward trek during the past week against strong export movement and a normal tightening of offers from growers.
Busy with spring seeding, farmers are not active participants in any specialty crop markets at this time, intensifying feelings of supply tightness across all commodities.
However, the numbers support this belief in peas, with Canada having already established a marketing year export record.
Large volumes of peas remaining to be shipped to compound feed manufacturers in Spain and human consumption markets in the Latin America and Asia.
