World Ag Markets Worry About WeatherCHICAGO - May 2/06 - SNS -- International agricultural commodity markets maintained a relatively low level of activity, with traders watching short term weather conditions in North America as it affects seeding progress and the condition of previously sown crops. Traders were somewhat concerned by yesterday's crop progress reports from the USDA, which revealed a three point decline in the percentage of winter wheat rated god to excellent from 39% last week to 36% this week and 18 points below the recent 16-year average of 54% good to excellent at the start of May. As always, what is bad for one crop is seen as good for another, with weather conditions deemed favorable for corn while unhelpful for wheat. Corn planting progress will slow for a few days after the hefty rain on the weekend, but traders saw it as a bearish factor for the coming growing season Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
