Cost of Farming Rising 1%WASHINGTON - Apr 28/06 - SNS -- The April Index of Prices Paid for Commodities and Services, Interest, Taxes, and Farm Wage Rates (PPITW) at 147 (1990-92=100), increased 1 point from March 2006 and is up 5.0% from April 2005. The April index, at 146, increased 1.4% from last month and increased 5.8% from last year. Higher prices in April for field crop seeds, hay & forages, feeder cattle, legume & grass seed, and feed grains more than offset lower prices for feeder pigs, milk cows, insecticides, diesel fuel, and trucks.
