Another Quiet Week for LentilsVANCOUVER - Apr 14/06 - SNS -- North American lentil markets experienced another relatively quiet week, with many market participants across the America and Europe leaving work early on Thursday. Markets are closed for Easter Friday and while most North American traders will be back at their desks on Monday, many Europeans and Latin Americans will remain off work. With activity limited, prices finished the week mainly unchanged. Predictions of an increase in Australian red lentil seedings from 113,000 to 139,000 hectares in 2006-07 had no impact on markets. Pulse Australia reckons that even if area rises, production will likely drop from this season's 209,500 metric tons (MT) final estimate to around 196,000 MT as returns return closer to average.
