New Pig Maternity Mat
MONTREAL - Apr 13/06 - SNS -- Cascades Forma-Pak has create a new pig maternity mat made from 100% recycled fiber.
Called SaniZorb, Cascades said the product is easier for producers to recycle than is the case with the industrial and sponge mats now in use. Those must be thrown out after each use and are extremely difficult to recycle or require extra work by the breeder who must clean them with strong detergents that could be harmful both to the animal and to the environment.
The new recyclable Cascades pig maternity mats disintegrate in the trenches that lead to the manure pit. The SaniZorb mat provides a healthier environment for the piglet and while its grooves maintain the piglet in place thereby reducing the chance of leg dislocation.
Cascades' SaniZorb mats are distributed in Canada by Ro-Main Agro-Technological Development and in the USA by Falcon Packaging and Transport.
