AWB Upgrades Two VarietiesSYDNEY - Apr 10/06 - SNS -- The Australian wheat marketing board, AWB Limited, upgraded the classification of Sentinel and Young wheat varieties. The upgrade follows the evaluation of quality data by the AWB National Pool Variety Classification Panel. Sentinel had previously obtained a temporary default classification of Australian General Purpose (GP) in northern and central New South Wales, however this has now been upgraded to Australian Standard White (ASW). Sentinel is commercialized by AWB Seeds. The Panel confirmed an Australian Hard (AH) classification for Young in Victoria, South Australia and southern New South Wales. The classification panel determined that the excellent milling quality, strong dough properties and end product performance, was appropriate for an AH classification. Young is commercialized by Grain trust.
