Firmer Tone in BeansVANCOUVER - Apr 7/06 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets finished the week on a firmer note as exporters from Argentina withdrew from markets. This has contributed to some of the firmness in U.S. markets during the past week. Tightening old crop supplies have combined with expectations of a potential reduction in seedings of beans other than chickpeas to lift values for some classes of beans. Wet weather has become a major concern for dry edible bean producers in Argentina now that the crop has been seeded. Some speculate that up to 15% of the crop has already been lost to disease, with cranberry and other colored beans suffering the most.
