Demand Lifting Field Pea Values
VANCOUVER - Apr 7/06 - SNS -- Steady export demand and the realization stocks are lower than anticipated for this point in the shipping season is helping support North American field pea markets.
Processors in the United States continue to enjoy good demand from the U.S. government, which has helped make it difficult for them to continue sourcing yellow peas.
That is expected to contribute to a proportionately larger increase in yellow than green pea area in the United States this year.
Ideas that green would go down in favor of yellow will probably end up off the mark, as green pea area will also likely increase, helping push total field pea seedings past the million acres mark for the first time in U.S. history.
