CWB Boost Initial PaymentsWINNIPEG - Apr 5/06 - SNS -- The Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) increased initial payments for all grain delivered against its 2005-06 pools effective April 6, 2006. The increase in initial payments for wheat and feed wheat will be from $13.00 to $23.10 per metric ton (MT). In the case of durum, the increase will be from $15.00 to $19.00 MT. For designated barley, the increase will be $10.00 MT. The adjustment payments, in dollars MT, for representative grades in each pool account are listed below. The total initial payment to date is based on the value of grain in store at Vancouver or St. Lawrence.

Farmers who delivered wheat, durum and designated barley to the CWB between August 1, 2005 and April 5, 2006 will receive an adjustment payment. The payments will be dated April 18, 2006 and mailed on April 21, 2006. Farmers with direct deposit will have their accounts credited for value on April 18, 2006. Those who wish to defer payments have until April 11, 2006 to notify the CWB by calling 1-800-275-4292.
