Malaysian Palm Oil Output Up In FebruaryKUALA LUMPUR - Apr 4/06 - SNS -- Malaysia's crude palm oil (CPO) production rose 12.3% to 1.05 million metric tons (MT) in February 2006 mainly due to the upturn in the Peninsular Malaysia's output, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB). While output in the Peninsula Malaysia jumped by 30%, East Malaysia's production declined by 5.6%. Compared to February 2005, output during February 2006 was only 0.3% higher. CPO output is expected to enter the seasonal uptrend in the coming months and Post expects CPO output to increase to 3.75 million MT in the April-June quarter. Commenting on the situation, the U.S. agricultural attache for the country said, "Lack of fresh leads in the market resulted in a marginal decline in local CPO prices during the month of March."
