Smithfield Completes Cook's BuyNEW YORK - Apr 4/06 - SNS -- ConAgra Foods Inc. completed the sale of its Cook's ham business to Smithfield Foods, Inc. The completion of this divestiture follows ConAgra Foods' announcement on March 31 that it finalized the sale of its seafood businesses. The company said that it received more than $440 million in cash for both its ham and seafood businesses. Based in Lincoln, Nebraska, Cook's is a major producer of both traditional and spiral sliced smoked bone-in hams, as well as corned beef and other smoked meat items sold to supermarket chains and independent grocers throughout the United States and Canada. Manufacturing facilities are located in Lincoln, as well as Grayson, Kentucky, and Kansas City, Missouri. Cook's annual sales are about $330 million.
