Farmland Values Inch UpwardOTTAWA - Apr 3/06 - SNS -- Canadian farmland values inched upwards last year, rising 1.6% during the first half of 2005 and rising 1.5% during the second half of the year, according to Farm Credit Canada (FCC). The biggest gains were reported in British Columbia during the last half of the year, with average land values soaring 10%, compared to a 3.8% rise in Ontario, 3% in Newfoundland, 2.8% in Alberta, 0.5% in Saskatchewan and 0.2% in Manitoba. Land values were unchanged during the last half of the year in Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia.
