Ukraine Expects More Corn, BarleyKIEV - Apr 3/06 - APK -- Corn and barley production could be up this year because of a forecast increase in seeded area, says Yuri Melnik, Vice-Prime Minister. Area under barley crops can increase by 470,000 hectares (total area was 4.5 million hectares last year); maize - 500,000 hectares (1.71 million hectares last year). Increase of wheat area is estimated at the level of 145.000 hectares (total area - 6.19 million hectares in 2005), millet - 100,000 hectares (141.000 hectares last year).
