Birdseed Markets Firm at Week's EndVANCOUVER - Mar 31/06 - SNS -- Lack of grower selling in western Canada contributed to some firmness in North American birdseed ingredient markets during the past week. Much of the canaryseed is in the hands of growers who are more willing to wait out markets. At the same time, spring-like conditions are becoming a factor in more areas in western Canada, interfering with the ability of growers to deliver product and switching their focus to getting on with seeding this year's crop. Some are expressing some anxiety over the slowness with which spring is arriving. Some growers worry wet conditions and the chance of localized flooding will keep them from getting on with major field work until sometime in May.
