Chickpeas Drift LowerVANCOUVER - Mar 24/06 - SNS -- International chickpea markets continue to drift lower on account of the availability of new crop product from Mexico. Supplies of old crop chickpeas are small in both Canada and the United States, but exporters are no longer willing to hold the beans in hopes of a return to current values at some later point. They have become resigned to the idea average trading levels will be down in 2006-07, irrespective of what happens with the Canadian and U.S. harvests.
