Canadian Pea Supplies Fall RapidlyVANCOUVER - Mar 17/06 - SNS -- Canadian field pea markets finished the week on a firmer note with the realization demand was been far greater during the first half of the marketing year than anyone had believed. Official export data reveals half last year's 3.1 million metric ton (MT) crop was exported by the end of January. Canadian domestic usage has been averaging over 900,000 MT in recent years, causing some market participants to think the 2005-06 marketing year could end with less than 200,000 MT of peas left over, down from last summer's 595,000 carry in.
