Little Movement in Field Pea MarketsVANCOUVER - Mar 10/06 - SNS -- North American field pea markets ended the week little changed, with markets in the United States supported by ongoing USDA PL-480 food aid tender activity. During the week, the USDA did not buy 3,450 metric tons (MT) of whole and split yellow peas and 110 MT of green peas on a food aid tender. However, by week's end it had issued a tender for 3,560 MT of whole green peas in an effort to buy the pulses for movement in April. The difficulty faced by the USDA is a clear statement processors in the United States are not willing to give away production on tenders and that stocks might be tightening at the grower level.
