Little Change in Birdseed MarketsVANCOUVER - Mar 10/06 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets were little changed during the past week as supplies available from growers kept in rough balance with the immediate needs of the market. Canadian canaryseed, U.S. millet and sunflower seed markets were all basically unchanged on the week. Interestingly, while new crop canaryseed is mostly discounted to spot at the grower level in western Canada, new crop confectionary sunflower seed markets are holding premiums over spot. This is clearest in the United States where new crop larges are bid $16 per 100 pounds (cwt) for farmers dressed product delivered elevators, versus $15 for spot; and smalls are bid $10 versus $8 for spot.
