Food Aid Bolsters LentilsVANCOUVER - Mar 10/06 - SNS -- North American lentil markets were bolstered by the latest USDA PL-480 food aid purchases, which saw 18,660 metric tons (MT) of U.S. origin lentils bought for movement in April. That will keep processors in the United States busy for the coming few weeks, with most reluctant to pursue commercial business because they expect further, large scale food aid buying before the end of the 2005-06 marketing year. Canadian processors and exporters remain relatively busy, with some improvement in buying from some Latin American countries reported.
