Australian Livestock Auction Action JumpsSYDNEY - Mar 3/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd jumped during the past week as massive gains in sheep offerings swamped declining cattle sales. Throughput for the week totalled 53,791 sheep and lambs, up from 25,544 head the previous week, for a third week over week increase. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 1,737, compared to 3,949 last week, for a third week over week gain. "The cattle market remained firm to dearer this week and numbers are looking short in a number of areas," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Dry conditions particularly in the north are going to make slaughterers lives a little tense come winter as the chances of a beneficial wet are now fading."
