Malaysian Palm Oil Output DropsWASHINGTON - Mar 1/06 - SNS -- Crude palm oil (CPO) production declined by 12.9% to 937,000 metric tons (MT) in January 2006, according to data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB). While East Malaysia's production plummeted 20%, output in the Peninsula Malaysia declined by 4.1%. Compared to January 2005, output during January 2006 was 19% lower. Commenting on the situation, the U.S. agricultural attache for the country said, "Market players expect CPO output to drop further during the February-March period."
