Indian Pulse Import Demand StrongVANCOUVER - Feb 28/06 - SNS -- India's pulse crops are up over last year, but the supply situation has not improved in the country and imports will remain relatively strong for the balance of the 2005-06 marketing year. However, improved domestic production is having an impact on the mix of pulses imported, with this price sensitive market increasing purchases of field peas at the expense of dry edible beans and chickpeas. Having more local pulses available is pressuring prices in interior markets and pulling demand away from more expensive classes of imported beans and chickpeas.
