Georgia Confirms Bird Flu

KIEV - Feb 24/06 - APK -- Prime minister of Georgia Zurab Nogaidely said on February 24th that according to preliminary data in Georgia was registered the first case of bird flu.

According to his words, dangerous virus was found in swan's body that had been found by local inhabitants in the village area. Corresponding material was sent to London for more detailed examination.

As was reported, the day before the local inhabitants have found in the village area more than 20 dead heads of migrant birds.

In other news, there are reports of further bird deaths from avian influenza in Russia's Krasnodarskiy region. According to preliminary data, first hen's signs of disease began in February 20th, but mass dying was registered only on February 22nd.

According to preliminary data, the poultry died because of semi-plague. All necessary materials has been sent to the laboratory for explorations. Anyway, this battery farm's poultry will be culled.
