Myanmar Bean Exports Down in 2005BANGKOK - Feb 18/06 - SNS -- Dry edible bean exports from Myanmar were down sharply in 2005, ending the calendar year at their lowest level in recent years, judging from data available from the country's Ministry of Commerce. Shipments of all pulses stood at just 32,159 metric tons (MT) in December, down from November shipment totals and below year earlier levels. The calendar year ended with Myanmar shipping 667,869 MT of pulses, down from 905,790 MT in 2005 and below the recent low of 825,167 MT exported in 2001. In December, India accounted for 90% of total exports in December, while Japan, another regular buyer, reduced its imports significantly to just 72 MT.
