Seasonal Slow Down in LentilsVANCOUVER - Feb 17/06 - SNS -- Lentil markets continue to suffer from a seasonal slow down in buying demand because European importers have already covered the bulk of their needs and South American buyers are assessing their's. Exporters are showing some impatience, with asking prices for most classes of green lentils declining in an effort to convince buyers to enter markets. The situation is not helped by widening spreads between high and low sellers. While this creates significant arbitrage opportunities, overwhelming distrust of other players in the market and a desire to be an exporter rather than a track seller is preventing the market from being brought into line.
