Yellow Peas Helped by DemandVANCOUVER - Feb 10/06 - SNS -- Processors and exporters report steady trading interest and movement of food grade peas through Canadian West Coast ports. While sales to India are experiencing a seasonal slow down, China and South American buyers have taken some of the sting out of the decline. Exporters express long term concern, however, over demand prospects for Canadian field peas and lentils to Latin America. On January 1, 2007, they say import duties on U.S. peas and lentils will drop to zero in Columbia, Ecuador and Peru, while import duties on Canadian pulses remain at 15%.
