Australian Livestock Auction Action DownSYDNEY - Feb 10/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd slipped during the past week as rising cattle sales were overcome by declines in sheep and lamb offers. Throughput for the week totalled 11,926 sheep and lambs, down from 14,462 head the previous week, after rising the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 2,708, compared to 2,398 last week, after falling the previous week. "Mutton sheep from Queensland to Tasmania met stronger competition, with prices improving over all weights. Stronger demand from restockers mirrored the increase in the wool market and the shortage of quality replacements," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "There was also good demand for Merino ewes joined to prime lamb sires." Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
